About WORK(SIC)
Designed and pre prototyped in Virginia, every WORK(SIC) piece begins with a slow build. Each design goes through countless rounds of testing, revision, and material study until it feels complete. The process takes time but time is the only thing that gives something weight.
We keep our catalog small and focused. We are not trying to grow fast or fill shelves. We build a consistent language through the pieces we release. Each one should feel connected to the last, familiar in proportion, tone, and intent. We want the work to carry a sense of continuity rather than unorganized volume or unhealthy speed.
Each category is produced with a single workshop we like building with. That consistency allows every workshop to understand our rhythm, what we look for, how we finish edges, how a handle should sit, how a seam should fall. Our upcoming saddle stitched line is produced by a small group of artisans who have worked the same way for years, focusing on precision and durability over output.
When we work with rare textiles or hides we move to a made to order format. It allows the process to slow down and respects the value of the material. Nothing leaves production without passing through several hands.
Our cashmere program is developed in a knitwear mill that specializes in small batch construction using Grade A fibers. The cashmere is collected in limited quantities during the natural molting season when the undercoat sheds on its own. It is a slow deliberate process that yields little fiber but produces a depth and softness that lasts.
We are working to develop our own look and our own feel. For someone to see a piece and know it is WORK(SIC) without needing to read the tag.
What we make should feel intentional, built to live with you, not just exist for a season. Thoughtful design. Honest materials. Time well spent.
